Mesotherapy Anti-Aging and Technology Program

Anti-Aging Medicine and Technology

The most widely recognized and addressable anti-aging hormone deficiency is Human Growth Hormone or HGH. Anti-aging research represents one of the most exciting recent discoveries for long-term, healthful living.  This hormone, now well studied in over 20,000 scientific papers, is the closest thing to the fountain of youth.  Growth hormone supplementation can dramatically slow and reverse certain signs of aging, turning back the biological clock. HGH enhances protein synthesis, supports and modulates cellular metabolism to reduce body fat. The principal functions of human growth hormone are:
  1. support lean muscle mass and tone
  2. support and modulate cellular metabolism
  3. decrease body fat and promote lean body mass index
  4. stimulate and support tissue repair
  5. enhance skin tegument elasticity

A medically directed program of regular HGH treatment stimulates the production and return of younger physiological levels of insulin-like Growth Factor Type 1 (IGF-1), the body's active HGH metabolite.

The Pituitary Gland and Anti Aging

Human Growth Hormone, known as somatotropin, is the most abundant hormone secreted by the pituitary gland during adolescence. This pituitary is a small but powerful gland that produces a number of hormones and chemicals which control and regulate a variety of processes and systems in your body.  The pituitary gland has been called the master gland because it is intimately involved in the regulation of other hormones in addition to its direct effects on tissues of the body. Signs of somatotropin deficiency include wrinkles, gray hair, decreased energy and stamina, declining sexual function, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and impaired immune system function. Human Growth Hormone (HGH) or somatropin - is involved in these daily regulatory processes.

One of the major changes in our body as we age is the decline in availability of many hormones, especially growth hormone. This gradual decline in HGH begins in our late 20’s, when our hormone levels peak and continues throughout our life.

In fact, this HGH hormonal decline may exceed one percent per year.  For example, a 60-year old may have a 75 percent decline and be secreting only 25 percent of our peak adolescent optimal level.

Somatropin Biochemistry

In 1977, Nobel Laureate, Dr. Roger Guillemin, discovered two key hormones known to control growth in the human body.  He confirmed their origin from the hypothalamus of the brain: growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) which stimulates pituitary release of GH and somatostatin, which inhibits it. Subsequent research has identified intrinsic factors, including the neurotransmitter acetyl-choline, and direct chemical influences of magnesium, potassium, calcium and zinc. Growth Hormone is secreted and released into the bloodstream from the pituitary gland during the beginning phases of sleep, passing through the liver circulation and converting to its potent growth promoting metabolite, Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF-1), also known as somatomedin.   IGF-1 is the active hormone most responsible for the systemic anti-aging effects. Clinically, IGF-1 levels may be measured to assess GH levels. Hormones are essential for the repair and maintenance of all the different cells of our bodies, and as the hormones naturally decline with age, we lose the ability to repair free radical cell damage inflicted by a host of environmental insults.

Restoring Hormone Levels for Anti-Aging

Studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine and other clinical journals show that restoring growth hormone (IGF-1) levels to youthful levels will restore the effectiveness of the repair and maintenance systems of the body. There is no other substance better than Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 with such far reaching anti-aging benefits including the restoration of lost muscle mass, lost hair, hair color, decreasing body fat, skin rejuvenation, increasing sexual function, energy, cardiac output, stamina, improving cholesterol profile, vision, memory, immune function, normalizing blood pressure and vital organ function, and assisting in wound healing.  IGF-1 targets almost all tissues of the body, depending on receptor site binding sensitivity. The bottom line end result after HGH and IGF-1 treatments - we age more slowly and many of the signs of aging return to a more youthful picture.  Patients on growth hormone replacement therapy gain muscle, lose fat, have more energy, experience better memory and moods, they fight infections better, their bones are stronger, their skin is thicker and more elastic and their sexual performance even improves. These benefits are further enhanced with a diet focused on lean protein and low glycemic index carbohydrates, and regular cardio - resistance combined exercise.

Side Effects

There is relatively little downside to growth hormone treatments.  After 50 years of experience and many studies on HGH, the only known effects are in rare instances painful joints, fluid retention and elevated blood sugar levels.  None of these side effects are serious and they are completely reversible by reducing the GH dose. The only scientifically proven way to increase your hormone levels with GH is by injection, either subcutaneously or intramuscularly. Fortunately, the amount given is small and the needle is very fine (similar in size to a mesotherapy needle). As safe as it is, GH is powerful medicine and should only be taken under the supervision of a physician experienced in its use. Initially and every few months after beginning therapy, the level of GH in the body should be checked by blood testing.

Are You an HGH Candidate?

Who is the candidate for this treatment? Anyone with sub-optimal IGF-1 hormone levels which includes most people over the age of 40 and almost everyone over the age of 50.  People whose levels are slightly low may be able to increase their own production of GH through a well-designed, rigorous exercise program including both aerobic exercise and weight training. In addition, fasting boosts GH production as does a diet rich in Arginine and Ornithine. A good night's sleep has also been shown to be helpful. Although all of these modalities are helpful, none of them alone or in combination are able to raise GH levels to optimal levels for slowing or reversing the aging process. Optimal GH levels with GH injection replacement therapy will provide an effective anti-aging foundation for wellness.
